Who inspired you to read? For us, it was our families. And for that, our business is named after the big red barn on Amy's grandparents property. When it came time to name our business back in 2004, a photo of this barn was staring at us during a brainstorming session. At the same time we had recently found the book "Big Red Barn" by Margaret Wise Brown. The local hospital here gives a board book version of this book as a gift to newborns and their families. What an inspiration! Encouraging families to read together and reaching out to our community are two of our primary goals. And so, while our business has never been located in an actual red barn (maybe someday!), the barn remains a symbol of inspiration for us in the form of our name. This barn was re-built many times over the life of the family farm. In much the same way, a business needs to grow and change and re-build itself over the course of its lifetime. We will always strive to meet the reading needs of our customers and our community and we pray that will be an inspiration to you as well.
